Thankful Thursday: thankful that God is stretching me.

Until the last couple of weeks, things had been comfortable for me at my day job for quite a while. I enjoyed my duties. I thought they were a good fit for me. I more or less enjoyed them and felt competent at what I had to do. I could clock in, do my job, not stress too much, and clock out.

But now they are restructuring, and I’ve been thrust into new responsibilities that I find difficult, confusing, and uncomfortable.

God has a way of shaking us up, to remind us that we are not in control and don’t need to be. To remind us that He cares far more about our sanctification and growth in virtue than about our comfort level. To push us to rely on His strength rather than what we think is our own.

And so, today I am grateful that in the midst of change, I can trust that His providential Hand is guiding all of it. I’m learning new processes and new skills, but most of all, hopefully I’m learning trust, patience, and surrender.
