The Crimson League in “The Magic Council”: from War Buddies to Family

One of my favorite things in The Magic Council: The Fight for Home is seeing the relationships of the members of the Crimson League (from book one of the Herezoth trilogy) mature and transform.

They are all in different circumstances and different stages of life fifteen years after Zalski Forzythe than when we last saw them. And they have gone from being war buddies to basically family. Forever family.

This, I think, is a somewhat cryptic but still apt interpretation of the subtitle The Fight for Home. Home is where family is.

I really love their relationships. The spotlight here is on Vane, for sure, but the League rallies around him and around each other as needed in uncertain or tragic circumstances. They have an unbreakable bond. They remain faithful to each other and willing to sacrifice to help each other. It touches my heart, and I hope it speaks to the beauty, power, and need for the love of true, deep friendship, so desperately lacking and misunderstood in Western culture today.

The Herezoth trilogy is a fun read for any adult who loves heartful adventure and fantasy, but especially for the young adults you know and love. You can check it out at www.herezothtrilogy.com
