One day to go! Reflection on pre-book launch jitters

A book launch is such a fun experience, and such a fulfilling accomplishment. It can’t satisfy the deep longings of the human heart, but when you’ve worked long and hard on a book that you know has something of real value to offer to other people, it’s a wonderful feeling to know it’s going out into the world.

Still, the jitters are real. You go from feeling sure it’ll be well-received, to being sure no one is going to even read it, to worrying that EVERYONE is going to read it–and hate it.

All you can do is remind yourself that no book is for everyone. Every book has a target audience, and hopefully, if you’ve written and edited for that target audience, they will enjoy it as well as take something away from it.

I’m happy as a Catholic to leave the “success” of my books in God’s hands. I trust He will use them as He desires and bring them, when He wills, into the hands of the people He wants to have them. Whether that’s few or many in the end doesn’t matter much. “He knows what He’s about,” to quote my favorite saint, John Henry Newman. As long as I do my part, I can rest secure in knowing He will take care of the rest.

As book two launches tomorrow, book one will be free to download on Kindle, so you don’t want to miss you. Learn more at www.herezothtrilogy.com.
