I would lie if I said my relationship to blogging these days is anything other than love/hate.
I think the issue is I am comparing this blog to the blog I ran in blogging’s heyday back in 2012-2014, when I got thousands of hits a month. Sigh.
But I’ve been running this blog for almost two years now. I haven’t given up. I’ve tried a few different strategies regarding how frequently to blog, and when to release posts.
I learned that I need to release a post daily in order to motivate myself to release with regularity, and I went back to daily posts.
And now, I’m at 300 posts total and one way from 200 subscribers. Yes, some of those are bots. But also, some aren’t.
I’m at a place in life where I am learning to accept things for what they are–especially things that I can’t change, like social media limiting reach purposefully if you don’t pay for ads, or blogging not being what it was ten years ago (in terms of finding attention and success).
Once you accept reality, you can learn to work with what you have and adapt as you need to. I think I’m trying to do that. And I’m ALWAYS about celebrating small wins, so YEA for 300 blog posts and (almost) 200 followers, as I’m writing this!
If you blog, how long have you been blogging? What do you love or hate about it?
Also, since I suck at marketing and it’s hard, if you know anyone who enjoys YA fantasy, let them know about my sword and sorcery/ dystopian cross, available now on Amazon and free to you if you’re on Kindle Unlimited.
