Don’t forget that writing should be FUN

I always say that the “right” writing process is the one that works. There all kinds of ways to write and prepare to write. Some are slower, some are faster. Some involve more work on the front end, some more work on the back end.

But what is the “right” process for you? I think it’s the one that allows you to ENJOY creating. To have fun with it. To feed your spirit.

I am a strong believer as a Catholic that we are made in the image and likeness of God. Part of that involves our capacity to create. We were made to be creators imitating the Creator.

Creating should be fun and freeing, joyful and meaningful.

Honestly, this is why I write first drafts as a pantser. I LOVE seeing the story come together without knowing where it’s going. I LOVE the moments when I realize what’s coming, and I find myself blown away.

Art is meant to be joyful and enjoyed–and that includes the creating of it.
