Tuesday Tunes: “Heaven” by Better Than Ezra and “The Crimson League: The Fight for Hope”

For a couple of years now, I have realized that Better Than Ezra’s “Heaven” is a perfect fit for a particular climactic kind of scene at the end of book one of my Herezoth trilogy: “The Crimson League: The Fight for Hope.”

Without spoilers, the chapter is titled “The Price of Victory”

You can listen on Youtube here if you’re not familiar.

From the opening lines to the military drums, from the themes and imagery to the beat, it’s just perfect.

“Will you fight for the cause? Can you teach the savage mind their ways are wrong, help them see what they want and what they need?”

I totally envision this song playing in the background in a film version as all the action comes to a close and the repercussions of the reign of sorcerer Zalski Forzythe become apparent.

(This is how a novelist’s mind works, haha, if you aren’t one and if you didn’t know. We’re a strange bunch!)
