A story of three families

One of my favorite ways to think about my Herezoth trilogy is as the story of three families.

You are introduced to each of these families in book one, largely through a pair of siblings (Kora and Zac, Menikas and Lanokas, Zalski Forzythe’s family).

Sibling relationships, for some reason, are very influential and important in each of my books, but so are parent-child relationships, especially in books two and three.

As twenty-five years pass and these families stave off a couple of different existential threats to the kingdom of Herezoth, you get to see these families grow. They have children. Their children grow and prepare to carry the banner.

I have loved watching all of these characters come into their own. Preparing the second editions, I’ve loved throwing a bit more emphasis on this or that aspect of their maturation and how they come to bear with the burdens of their past and their concerns regarding the future.

It’s been great fun. I’m so excited to have book one back out for people and to be preparing book two for my editor!

The writer life is stressful and confusing at times, especially marketing and promotion, but for me it’s about the stories. Good, meaningful stories. Stories can touch hearts and remind us what being human is all about.
