My favorite edit to book two of my trilogy

I’m still so excited to be getting second editions of my trilogy out, and that book one is now available.

Book two is currently with beta readers.

I’ve made some big cuts to book two (some 10,000 words!), but my favorite edit is the one major thing I’ve added.

I have fleshed out the relationship between the king and queen a bit more. (This also goes for book three.)

I will not name the king and queen here, and that’s to avoid spoilers.

The king and queen aren’t the main characters in book two (it’s largely Vane Unsten’s coming of age story), but they’re central figures. As the book has an omniscient POV, there are scenes with only the king and queen in them.

Their relationship is very REAL, in the sense that when you see them in books two and three, they’re struggling. They’re in rough moments in their relationship in those years, and it shows. They can’t pretend they’re not–at least, the queen can’t.

What I did was this: I made things seem more hopeful than they did before, regarding the future with a few subtle alterations. I also fleshed out their past, adding a moment when they reminisce about their courtship. It was really lovely.

All in all, I think it adds a depth and a realism that I really love. We’ll see what my beta readers think!

In the meantime, make sure to check out “The Crimson League: The Fight for Hope” on Amazon.
