The thoughts that go through an author’s head on and after pub day

I’m so grateful, and so blessed, to have had what I can truly consider a successful launch for my new YA fantasy / sword and sorcery novel, “The Crimson League: The Fight for Hope”

It was the number one new release on Amazon in religious science fantasy and fiction for days, first in the paperback, then on Kindle.

But man, emotions sure do run high and go haywire on release–especially your first professional release, which you’ve geared up for after partnering with a publisher.

I thought it would be fun (and funny) to track how the process goes:

  • I’m so exhausted.
  • But hey, I’m running on pure adrenaline, so that’s cool.
  • Am I . . . Am I actually an author now?
  • Oh my gosh, look, some royalties are rolling in!
  • THIS IS FANTASTIC. But it’s… oh man, it’s not nearly enough to even begin offsetting what I’ll need to put into producing book two, even if this rate of sales holds, which is unlikely.
  • BREATHE. You knew this would be an uphill battle. All in God’s hands. All in God’s time.
  • I. am. an. author!
  • OOOH LOOK! A FIVE STAR REVIEW!!!
  • People are saying they are getting the Kindle version but I’m not seeing Kindle sales populate. Oh goodness, what’s going on?
  • I AM AN INTROVERT AND MARKETING MYSELF IS SO VERY UNCOMFORTABLE.
  • OH, wait, those people saying they’re getting it on Kindle are using Kindle Unlimited. That explains that. PHEW!
  • Building an audience will take time, and this is a great start!!!
  • I need to stop refreshing stats roughly every 5 minutes!
  • I will never build an audience.
  • How can I get my book in the hands of book bloggers? Do I just reach out to them and offer them a copy in exchange for an honest review, or what?
  • THAT AUDIENCE IS GONNA COME, BABY, JUST YOU WAIT!

Anyways, it’s basically been like that!

And I truly DO need reviews and attention from book bloggers!

If you run a book blog and would like either an epub and pdf file of the book to review, I’ll be happy to send you one.

Not a soul in Herezoth is safe while evil sorcerer, Zalski Forzythe, reigns supreme.

There was a time when the magicked and commoners lived in peace. The Hall of Sorcery hidden high in the mountains was a place of reverence . . .

Until the vicious sorcerer Hansrelto came to call. His attempted overthrow may have failed, but a terrorizing rampage through the nearby villages did enough damage to mar the reputation of the peaceful magicked ones for generations to come.

Nearly a millennium passed . . .

Inspired by Hansrelto’s efforts, wicked sorcerer Zalski Forzythe successfully executes a coup and slaughters the royal family, taking over the nation of Herezoth.

The people are burdened with two-thirds taxes, violent terror, and forced allegiance. The crushing boot on the neck seems relentless.

But there is hope . . .

A team of rebels known as the Crimson League leads the charge toward freedom.

And legend has it, the Marked One will rise up to end the dystopian nightmare.

Through sword and sorcery, the forces of good and evil match off in The Herezoth Trilogy’s first installment, The Crimson League: The Fight for Hope!
