Thankful Thursday: Thankful for my characters who inspire me the most

I love my characters so much. They’re honestly like old friends, and they deeply inspire me.

Well, some of them, haha. For sure.

I love Lanokas, 1000%. His arc of growth throughout all three novels is incredible. I adore it. The way he matures, learns to step up, and does what needs to be done without self-pity or complaint is a beautiful thing, and, if I’m honest, it’s an example I desperately need to follow.

I appreciate and relate to Kora so much more now than I ever thought I would when I first wrote her story. She is courageous, witty, and ready to take risks when risks need to be taken. Most of all, I aspire to her resilience. That’s what she encapsulates for me.

After reading my books, you won’t be surprised to learn that Bennie is one of my favorite characters. She’s so genuine and innocent, but most of all . . . she is faithful. She’s faithful when it matters most. She’s faithful when it costs something. Man alive, does she inspire me.

I really admire Laskenay’s endurance and single-mindedness. I can only hope and pray to seek “the one thing necessary,” as Jesus says–to “seek first the kingdom of God”–as she pursues the goal and the purposes dearest to her heart.

There are more characters whom I deeply love–Vane, August, and Hayden, to name a few. And honestly, I really love my villain Zalski too. But the four above inspire me personally more than others–based on the parts of me and the needs I have that they reflect, I guess.
